White spots can have different causes: early demineralisation, fluorosis, developmental changes or greater visibility after enamel dries. They should not be diagnosed from a photograph alone.
When should you pay attention?
- spots appeared around orthodontic brackets,
- the surface is matt and rough,
- the change is getting larger,
- there is a defect or cavity,
- one tooth is affected after trauma.
V34 may temporarily alter how the colour looks, but it does not treat demineralisation. Whitening toothpaste can increase the contrast between the spot and the rest of the tooth.
What should you do?
Arrange a dental assessment. Management depends on the cause and depth of the change.
